I am writing a middle-grade, self-illustrated, fiction novel.  Tossed To and Fro is a story that begins off the Ivory Coast of Africa in the 1800’s. Slaves from a bloody slave ship are tossed overboard and miraculously survive. Deep within the ocean, gigantic Queen Conch shells are housing the slaves. As the story turns to reveal their existence in the 1960’s in a corn field owned by what the town people believe is a prejudice white farmer. This is a three-book series, first novel, and will be approximately 32,000 words long per book.

Based on the climate in America this is a perfect time to market this book, causing the novel to be a catalyst in creating a conversation about race with young people.  Creating the illustrations for the novel with colorful paintings, depicting the landscapes, characters, and customs; will keep the readers intrigued. Fortunately, this is the first of its kind, there are no novels in the market to compare.

I am uniquely qualified as Art Director for The Literacy Imperative’s Inc., (TLI) art department; a faith-based not-for-profit entity that promotes literacy in economically disadvantaged communities in Knoxville TN; to tell this story. Having illustrated and produced three coloring books; “Boy Coloring Book”, “Girl Coloring Book”, and Abstract Coloring Book”, I’m using my award-winning art, business background (owner of Art by Jackie) and network to promote my book.

Check back  around March 2018 for information about book release!
